Transportation

Note for out-of-towners: Use the Google Maps app for directions, whether you’re taking a taxi, subway, walking, or biking. Download it to your iPhone or Android for free. Apple’s Maps app is terrible, especially for public transit.

Our Wedding Venue and How to Get There:

The Greenpoint Loft
67 West Street, 5th Floor
(between Milton and Noble Streets)
Brooklyn, NY 11222

We strongly discourage driving.
The Greenpoint Loft has no valet parking, no nearby parking lot, and scarce street parking.

Instead, here’s a guide to New York City’s many excellent transportation options.

Easy
1. Car service
2. Taxi apps

Authentically New York
1. Subway (Greenpoint Ave stop)
2. Taxi street-hail

Scenic
1. Ferry
2. Bike or walk

Easiest: Car service

Reserve a car service to pick you up and drop you off. Call a few days beforehand to book, call back a day beforehand to confirm. Here are the most prominent companies (or ask your hotel concierge):

Next easiest: Taxi apps

Use Lyft, Uber, Via, or Way2ride (for yellow and green NYC taxis) to order a ride when you’re ready to go.

Most authentically New York: Subway

Take the G train subway line to the Greenpoint Avenue station.
Then walk west 2 blocks to West Street, then south 1.5 blocks to The Greenpoint Loft. (Check for weekend service changes beforehand.)

You can get to the G train by:

  • Taking the E, M, or 7 train to Court Square
  • Taking the L train to Lorimer Street
  • Taking the A or C train to Hoyt-Schermerhorn
  • Taking the F train to Bergen Street or Church Avenue

We recommend using Google Maps to find the best subway route. But again, check for weekend service changes, which Google Maps doesn’t always account for.

Next most authentically New York: Taxi street-hail

Hail a yellow or green NYC taxi on the street.

(Note: On the way home, you might have to use Lyft/Uber/Via/Way2ride if there aren’t enough street-hail taxis in the immediate neighborhood.)

Most scenic: Ferry

To get to the wedding, take the East River Ferry to India Street / Greenpoint.
Then walk east 1 block to West Street, then south 4.5 blocks to The Greenpoint Loft.

The website lists the summer schedule as the latest one, but it’s probably best to call them (800-533-3779) to confirm that these times are correct:

  • Ferries from the south:
    • 1:55 PM – Governors Island
    • 2:05 PM – Wall Street / Pier 11
    • 2:12 PM – Brooklyn Bridge Park / DUMBO
    • 2:23 PM – Schaefer Landing / South Williamsburg
    • 2:35 PM – North 6th Street / North Williamsburg
    • 2:45 PM – India Street / Greenpoint
  • Ferries from the north:
    • 3:02 PM – East 34th Street / Midtown
    • 3:09 PM – Hunters Point South / Long Island City
    • 3:19 PM – India Street / Greenpoint
  • The last ferries depart India Street / Greenpoint at 8:30 PM (northbound) and 9:04 PM (southbound).

Next most scenic: Bike or walk

If you don’t own a bike, rent a Citi Bike and dock it at the Milton St & Franklin St dock (or any of the six nearby docks if that one is full).

Want to bike to the wedding but also drink at the wedding? If you rode your own bike, you can take it home with you on the subway. If you rode a Citi Bike, return home via subway or Lyft/Uber/Via/Way2ride.
